Vicky’s first chapbook is now available!
This collection of poems is written about Vicky’s life on the shores of Lake
Koshkonong, near Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. There she lived in the shadow of
Chief Blackhawk, frequent flooding, and an alcoholic husband. Part journal,
part therapy, these poems detail the beauty and history of the lake interspersed
with the weather struggles and daily trauma of living with alcoholism.

Vicky Daniels Bardell fell in love with poetry one dark and stormy night when she was about 13.
The electricity had gone out, and her family had run through all of the board games in the house.
So her father opened a book of Edgar Allen Poe’s poetry and started reading. After listening to
Lenore,
Annabel Lee and
The Raven by candlelight and lightning, Vicky decided that night she
wanted to be a poet.
Vicky Daniels Bardell has won several awards for poetry and non-fiction, including first prizes
in the University of Wisconsin – Madison Writer’s Institute Annual “Poem or a Page” contest. Her
poetry has appeared in The Barefoot Grass Journal, Victory Scars, Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets
Sesquicentennial Poetry Quilt and other publications. Vicky is a member of the Wisconsin
Fellowship of Poets. In her day job, Vicky has written volumes of computer documentation and
on-line help.
